The Department of Music at the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor, subject to budgetary approval, to teach the following course during the First Summer Session 2013:

MUSIC 209A: Exploring Music Through Popular Genres
This course for non-music students fosters musical literacy through exercises in meter, pitch and rhythmic notation, analysis and discussion of musical form, using examples from popular music repertoire. The course will also include compositional activities.

Successful applicants will have at least a Master’s degree in Music and will have experience teaching musical theory and composition at the university level. Qualified applicants already on the UPEI Sessional Roster will be given priority. The offering of this course is conditional pending final enrolment numbers and is subject to budgetary approval.
