FULL-TIME TERM POSITION

“Advancing Interdisciplinary Research in Singing”, AIRS, an interdisciplinary collaborative program of research funded by the Major Collaborative Research Initiatives Program (MCRI) of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) invites applications to provide administrative assistance to a diverse team of world-wide collaborators. The successful candidate will report to the Director of AIRS. For a complete job description please email employment@upei.ca .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• coordinate with various university administrative departments in the administration, coordination and delivery of the AIRS project, communications, budget and day-to-day administration
• maintain organized records
• assist with the arrangements of contracts
• prepare travel claims
• prepare, process and track purchase requisitions for a variety of expenditures
• attend committee meetings; take, organize and distribute minutes of meetings
• assist to plan and provide support for annual conferences and workshops
• organize teleconference and videoconference meetings
• other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate is required to:
• be the graduate of a professional administrative assistant program from a recognized facility with 2 to 3 years relevant experience in a complex work environment or have equivalent training and experience
• have excellent communication skills
• have excellent organizational skills and have experience in setting priorities and meeting deadlines
• have a high degree of familiarity with a variety of computer skills; word processing, spreadsheet applications, charts, graphs, Adobe, desk top publishing software
• have experience in tracking budgets, keeping accurate records and the ability to pay strict attention to detail
• have a clear understanding of confidentiality
• effective team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Additional assets include:
• familiarity with and/or interest in music/signing
• experience in a university context
• university degree
• bilingualism
 

Hours of Work: 
33.75 hours per week
Term: 
One year (Term may be reduced or extended depending on performance, available funding and departmental requirements.)
Salary: 
$36,377 per annum, prorated to time and term as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)
